“If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won’t have to hear it scream.” I love this saying, perfectly placed at Healthcare Complete where I receive holistic nutritional and chiropractic care.
Now let's think about what this saying means.
Do you pay attention to the warning lights in your car? Tire pressure, oil changing, engine lights. When we pay attention to these we avoid flat tires, dangerous circumstances, etc. Sometimes we ignore the lights though, right? We hope we get by without anything happening, because we just don't have time to deal with it.
We seem to behave similarly with our own body. Little pains, discomforts, assuming it will go away, accepting it as your new normal. Little differences in your body, that when you are in tune with yourself you notice, but sometimes we are so busy we don't even notice them.
Do you listen to these whispers or make a list of excuses to avoid them? We can truly ignore these whispers, sometimes for quite a long time, until we start to feel worse. Much worse. Until our body is screaming.
What if we could have done something to avoid the much worse, screaming, scenario?
Have you tried sitting with your body, just to notice how you feel today? Maybe you feel wonderful, and that is amazing! Maybe you sense your body is giving you little hints, that something is off. Maybe your body is already screaming. Sit. Sit and find out what your body is trying to tell you. Then practice some self care. Do you need to eat some nutritious food? Do you need to move your body more? Do you think visiting a chiropractor, an alternative medicine or holistic practitioner, a therapist, or a doctor would help? Listen. If you're lucky, you will hear the whispers and avoid the screams.
Take care of yourself like you are a brand new car. Isn't it interesting how we often don't?
yoga, food, family, and travel. these are what drive my life! as a stay at home mom of 2 little girls with an active yoga practice. i longed to find the perfect yoga class for my own children. i felt a calling to a kids yoga teacher training in early November, 2017 and answered the call. in 2018, i felt called towards a greater mission. teaching teens & adults. today, i am living my dream.
