Hi! It's been a long time since I've introduced myself on here, and I know I have some newer followers who might not quite know who I am yet. My name is Allison and I own Yoga by Allison & Kids Yoga With Allison.
I grew up in Salem, NH and now reside with my family, my hubby and our 2 kids, in Haverhill, MA, where we love. Growing up being "good" at math and sciences, I went to school for a civil engineering degree and worked in Construction Management until I realized it wasn't quite the right path for me. Followed by time in retail, floristry, as a stay at home mom, and yoga teacher, I feel I've finally found my path! I enjoy dancing, yoga, creating and walking outdoors. And my life passion is traveling around the world. I consider my heart to be in Brazil and here in the US, as I've adopted my husband's homeland as much as my own. My kids are dual-citizens and it so beautiful to me that they are able to get to know both countries, learn more languages as they grow.
I've always been an advocate for those marginalized, and fighting for others to have equal treatment and rights has always been so important to me. I also identify as part of the LGBTQ community which has been a long part of my own personal life healing and journey, have experienced a number of chronic health issues, and am a survivor of assault. My husband's experience as an immigrant has taught me so much. My youngest daughter's physical difference and her hearing loss have taught me so much. My oldest daughter's high sensitivity has taught me so much. I'm always learning, and interested to learn more about others' experiences and how I can help the world be a place safe and hopeful for everyone.
I had practiced yoga in college, and off and on through my 20s. Once my 2nd child was 2, I felt called back, but this time 4 or 5 times a week. Yoga was my retreat, my escape, my ME time. Soon after I started bringing my children to kids yoga classes, but wasn't able to find something great for both of them. I felt called to take a children's yoga training and started not only teaching my children, but other's too. I was able to see how beneficial yoga was for children. And just like that I was called to my 200 Hour YTT, to enhance my own practice and expand my teachings to teens and adults. I love being able to teach to all age groups, and intend for all my classes to be open and inclusive to everyone. I love incorporating creative themes into my classes, and truly specializing, and holding safe spaces for my students. In addition to yoga, I love creating fun activities and worksheets, sharing my essential oil blends and advocating for safer and better beauty products.
Obviously there is so much more to me than these few paragraphs, just like there is so much more to you! I'd love to meet you or share space with you or continue conversations we've already started. Thank you for your support of my business!
